Kaleidoscope glasses review11/25/2023 ![]() It is somehow both neat and convoluted (why are the Mahabirs always the ones kidnapping and/or killing a child in this situation?), but clarifies Savitri’s motives at long last. In Savi’s estimation, Clarence cursed the family, and perpetuating the same crimes on Jeff was her way of lifting the curse - completing the circle. Clarence (Ted Sod) turns out to be an old colleague of Jeff’s (Dennis Quaid), one whose grandson was kidnapped and killed by Savitri’s husband 20 years ago when Clarence wouldn’t capitulate and move off his land. The same moral compass does not govern the adults, whose secrets and selfishness are what led to children suffering and dying. Saving Nicky, haphazard as it is, is an attempt to exercise agency while doing the right thing. Savitri and Garmen may have forgotten or chosen to overlook that, but it’s something Derek (Timothy Olyphant)can’t ignore when they burst into his hotel room demanding money, when Aked’s arrival leads to bloodshed (Olyphant’s expression when he enters the bathroom is incredible, and would work as easily in a comedy environment). The two of them - and Nicky (Lucian Zanes), and even Jared (Ethan Stoddard) up in his safe house - are just kids, embroiled in the mess of their elders and powerless to speak up or bow out. Discovery Lost 1.8 Million Streaming Subs in Max Launch Quarterįor as much as “Full Circle” affords less attention to its Guyanese protagonists than its wealthy white ones, it’s impossible not to worry for Louis and Natalia throughout the series and hope against all odds that they survive this ordeal. It’s one of the show’s most satisfying arcs and allows a secondary player to do something heroic. In Episode 5, Aked chooses violence, and Episode 6 reveals Xavier’s decision to double-cross Garmen (Phaldut Sharma), save Louis and Natalia (Adia), and face the music himself. 3 and 4 depict Louis trying to right his wrongs, to return Nicky to his family and go back to Guyana instead of going back to work for the Mahabirs. Each member of the young crew tasked with doing Savitri’s (CCH Pounder) bidding experiences degrees of panic, fear, and regret after the kidnapping, the specific cocktail of these determining their actions in the final hours. If Episodes 1 and 2 belonged to Aked (Jharrel Jerome), then 3 and 4 were focused on Louis (Gerald Jones) and 5 and 6 spotlight Xavier (Sheyi Cole). ![]() ![]() ![]() “Full Circle” stars a large ensemble, but the Mahabir side especially spotlights key players at different times. The final episodes of Max’s “Full Circle” from Steven Soderbergh and Ed Solomon reveal a broken cycle of violence, greed, and secrecy that does not ultimately heal from retaliation, but resolution/healing/absolution. Editor’s note: The following article contains spoilers for “ Full Circle” Episodes 5 and 6.Īn eye for an eye makes the whole world blind - even if it brings things full circle. ![]()

Ekg pulseless electrical activity11/25/2023 ![]() ![]() Regularity of the complexes - are the complexes regular? Uniformity - do all the complexes look the same? Morphology - identify each part of the complex To help recognise and analyse an arrhythmia the PQRS complex must be looked at in a systematic way - look for: Both of which, if severe, can compromise CO and subsequently tissue O 2 delivery. However, the ECG provides valuable information regarding heart rate and rhythm and allows for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and conduction abnormalities. The ECG should never be used as a sole indicator for cardiac function. CO and tissue perfusion can be reduced even if the ECG appears normal. In order for the heart muscles to contract they must first receive an electrical stimulus and it is this electrical activity that is detected by an ECG.ĮCG monitoring does not supply any information regarding the mechanical function of the heart and does not directly assess CO. ![]() To correct hypotension the cause of the hypotension has to be identified (Figure 1).īlood pressure monitoring can be performed using either non-invasive techniques, e.g., oscillometric and Doppler, or invasive techniques, e.g., direct arterial catheterisation.Ĭheck anaesthetic depth and avoid excessive depth of anaesthesiaįor the heart to function effectively as a pump it must have a coordinated contraction which pushes blood from the atria down to the ventricles and eventually around the body to perfuse cells and tissue. Hypotension is typically the result of a decrease in the heart rate, stroke volume, systemic vascular resistance, the intravascular fluid volume or a combination of all these components. Severe hypotension can also reduce coronary blood flow, which can lead to cardiac arrhythmias and potential cardiac arrest. This can lead to poor tissue O 2 delivery and, if left untreated, organ failure can ensue. When MAP falls below 60 mmHg, blood flow to the organs can be compromised. Hypotension can be defined as a MAP below 60 mmHg or a systolic arterial pressure of below 90 mmHg. MAP = (cardiac output × systemic vascular resistance) + Central Venous Pressure (CVP)Ĭardiac output = heart rate × stroke volume.ĭuring anaesthesia all animals experience some degree of hypotension. Mean arterial pressure (MAP) is determined by a combination of CO (heart rate, stroke volume), systemic vascular resistance and intravascular fluid volume. The closest measurement we have to assess CO in clinical practice is blood pressure measurement. Instead, methods of monitoring cardiovascular stability, and indirectly CO and tissue perfusion, include 'perfusion parameters', e.g., SpO 2 trace and end-tidal carbon dioxide but also blood pressure (BP) and electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring. ![]() It is invasive and requires the placement of a Swan-Ganz catheter passed from the jugular vein, through the right atrium into the pulmonary artery. Tissue oxygen delivery = oxygen content x cardiac outputĬardiac output = heart rate x stroke volumeĭirect measurement of CO in veterinary patients is rarely performed except in research settings. This is demonstrated in the equation below. ![]() Delivery of O 2 to the cells is reliant on adequate carriage of O 2 by the haemoglobin and a good cardiac output (CO) to circulate the oxygenated blood around the body. When the delivery of O 2 fails, the cells switch to anaerobic metabolism which can result in the accumulation of lactic acid and cellular function can be compromised. Under anaesthesia the ultimate goal is to maintain tissue oxygen (O 2) delivery so that metabolism can continue aerobically. Rodney henry protege shoes11/25/2023 ![]() ![]() While nobody is really coming to Jordan's defense when it comes to prices, Marbury's former business partner Rodney Henry is calling him out for some of the claims he made. It all started when he announced the return of his affordable Starbury sneaker line, which led to his criticism of Jordan, calling him "greedy" for charging so much for his sneakers. As hardware continues to get smaller and battery life advances, some are even looking toward a future where monitors are stitched into clothing or clipped onto a jacket for a minute-by-minute reading.Despite living in China, Stephon Marbury has been making a lot of headlines here in the states lately, and they're not about his dominance in the Chinese Basketball Association. The EPA has been running trials for wearable sensors and an air monitor that could be installed in a park bench, to put it closer to roads and parks. Colorado recently deployed some PurpleAir monitors to communities threatened by wildfires in the southwest of the state, a way to see where smoke was traveling so they could warn residents. That said, some state agencies have embraced the low-cost brands. They’re not precise enough for regulatory purposes, and some states have warned citizens against calling in with outrageously high readings that are most likely a glitch. As this valley develops, this can help you manage where you’re putting things like schools.”Īs would be expected, accuracy is a challenge-the monitors require calibration, can be affected by temperatures, and may be susceptible to, say, a backyard barbecue or a bug that flies into the sensor. “We’re getting real-time maps of the city’s microclimates. As this valley develops, this can help you manage where you’re putting things like schools.” Similarly, in Denver, Google has worked with Aclima to put the company’s low-cost sensors on street view cars to map pollution around the city. “Our lower-income areas have not always been very well represented, because people have other concerns than thinking of how to monitor air quality,” said Kerry Kelly, a chemical engineering professor at the University of Utah who oversees the program. Students can use the tissue-box-sized monitors for science-fair projects, but they’ve also created a data-rich map of pollution around the city. The AirU program has students building their own particulate-matter sensors, starting with toy blocks, a cheap Arduino computer board, and a photo resistor that scatters light to detect particles of pollution. “Students are coming up with questions like, ‘How is the air quality inside versus outside?,’ or ‘How does premium fuel compare to regular fuel?,’ or ‘How is the air around a school bus?’”Īnswering those questions hasn’t been easy, but a partnership with the University of Utah has helped. “If you’re having that experience from elementary school, you’re very aware of air quality,” Wickelson said. Shea Wickelson, a high-school chemistry teacher at the Salt Lake Center for Science Education, said students begin thinking about pollution when recess is canceled on bad smog days. In addition to Fresno, take Salt Lake City, where pollution is a fact of life: The city sits in a basin, and wintertime inversions trap a thick coat of visible smog over the city for days at a time. “They’ve got monitors in the best locations they can and they’ll do studies on that, but we need low-cost versions where we live.”Įven in large cities, which tend to get more attention because of their higher populations, low-cost sensors are being used to glean localized air-quality data. ![]() “The state does what they can with what they have to work with,” said Karen Sjoberg, the group’s leader. In a region grappling with wildfire smoke, increased truck traffic, and natural-gas pollution, activists say a stronger web of monitors is necessary to prove to the state that more attention needs to be paid to them. In western Colorado, the environmental group Citizens for Clean Air has put up two dozen low-cost monitors around Grand Junction to supplement the two state-run monitors in the Grand Valley. This could eventually reshape air-pollution regulation, with previously unmeasured areas gathering data on air they say could violate federal health standards. An analysis of 2017 data from more than 100 PurpleAir sensors across the country shows a spike in pollution caused by July 4 fireworks. ![]()

Percentage of carbs protein and fat11/24/2023 ![]() This explains why therapeutic Keto diets (which were originally created to help manage seizures in people with epilepsy) demand you eat 80% or more of your calories from fat. Then comes fat, which has a minuscule insulin impact. Why? Because carbs raise insulin levels more than the other macros, and rising insulin will kick you out of ketosis faster than you can say “ketogenesis.”Īfter carbs, protein is the next most insulinogenic macro. Keeping your macros in these ratios helps keep the hormone insulin low, signaling your body to burn fat and enter ketosis. On a Keto diet, you consume 55 to 75 percent of your calories from fat, 15 to 35 percent from protein, and less than 10 percent from carbohydrates. Because of this, carbs are arguably the most optional macro. These aren’t functions you want to miss out on.Ĭarbs provide a vital form of energy called glucose, but in the absence of carbs (such as Keto or fasting situations), your body can make its own glucose via gluconeogenesis. They’re both “preferred” energy sources.īesides providing energy, dietary fat also helps you build cell membranes and absorb fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E and K. Amino acids (the building blocks of protein) are needed to build muscle, synthesize hormones, heal wounds, promote neurological function, and much more.īut protein isn’t so great for making ATP, and that’s where carbs and fats come in. Of all the macros, you could argue that protein is the most critical. Micronutrients, predictably enough, are required in micro amounts. Why are they called macros? Because carbs, protein, and fat are required in large (or “macro” amounts) to keep your body humming. (In case you were wondering, alcohol has 7 calories per gram). ![]() The different macros have different caloric densities. But unless you count social lubrication, it has no important functions. In your body, calories are converted to usable energy as ATP, which in turn powers all your cells. The three primary macronutrients-carbohydrates, protein, and fat-provide the calories needed to fuel your body.Ĭalories, by the way, are a form of stored energy. There’s more confusion, however, when calibrating fat and protein macros. Missing the mark here will generally (though not always) derail your Keto diet. Most people know that keeping carbs low is the number one rule of Keto. What happens if you go over your Keto macros? That depends on the macronutrient. ![]() The basic idea is to keep fat high, protein moderate, and carbs low to enter the fat-burning state called ketosis. If you’ve tried the Keto diet, you’re probably familiar with counting macros. ![]()

Cel shading little devil inside11/24/2023 ![]() Also filing in the flat color was more of a hassle because typically I use the paint bucket tool, but because it's a pencil line art I intead had to use the magic wand and fill in the small gaps. As doing too much would make it stand out more, and too little would make it appear flat. On the flip side, though placing the shadows and highlights was actually quite difficult for the fabric and hair. I've never tried to do lineart-less art before and it makes me curious as to what it would look like in my style. Interestingly though I did notice how coloring in the line art for cell shading makes a much greater impact than full rendering. Plus the fact that the number of layers that I used was significantly smaller, it was a lot easier to navigate through. Obviously the first take away was how much easier it was to complete the cell shading, I think it took me about 6 hours which is half the time of the fully rendered image at about 12-14. Along with having a range of 3 to 4 shades darker and 2-3 lighter for each color. ![]() Variation in opacity and width in line art. On the right, I used the G pen for line art and a combination of the light pencil, airbrush, watercolor and oil brushes for the shading. On the left, I used a hard pencil for line art and the pen tool for the shading. ![]() Or have very detailed lines and anatomy with just minimal shading. I myself haven't used strictly hard shading in my work for about a year and a half now so I tried my hand at it again and compare it with my usual rendering. I've been browsing through art on Instagram a lot, particularly anime style, and I've noticed how some artists can pull off a simplistic style really well. ![]() |
